A Boy and His Dragon - 30 mins

‘A Boy and His Dragon’ is the heartwarming and affirming tale of a young boy named Peter.
Peter - apprentice to a local blacksmith - on meeting a dragon late one night by the riverside, goes on the adventure of a lifetime. With only his sense of compassion as his guide he seeks to set right an ancient wrong that could lead to the destruction of his entire village and see the world he lives in no longer home to dragons.
Using puppetry, music and light to engage an audience of all ages, Peter not only saves his village from destruction but also forges an ongoing peace with the dragon that will last for all time.
A folk story for the modern age, with conservation and friendship at its centre. This is a 30 minute show that is commonly performed three times per day or as part of a larger set of stories.
‘A Boy and His Dragon’ is a short play with a narrator character, told in a traditional storytelling format.
The Greatest Thief - 30 mins

In a drunken bet at his local inn an old man makes a claim that everyone in his village thinks he will live to regret. If he lives at all.
Little do they know the truth behind what he says and the deep bravery that lies in his heart. Although he is driven initially by his sense of hurt pride, perhaps the villagers will learn with this adventure that there is much more to our hero than meets the eye. In the future they may be less inclined to judge a book by its cover.
Another fast-paced, multi-role mini-play by Strange-Twig Theatre Company. In this half-hour tale of adventure and kings, giants and gold an old man saves his own life by saving the life of another and proves to both himself once again and to his neighbours that his has been a life of worth.
Bombastically performed with both energy and whimsy aplenty, The Greatest Thief is guaranteed to captivate an audience from end to end.
Storytelling Extravaganza - 1.5 hours (2x 45 mins)

Our ‘Storytelling Extravaganza’ is a storytelling set of one and a half hours in length. The constituent stories can be broken down into shorter groupings or told as repeat ‘tellings’ at intervals during an event. This set contains ‘A Boy and His Dragon’ and ‘The Greatest Thief’ as sections of the production.
This set is an affirming and heartwarming group of stories with a focus on positivity and learning.
Additional Stories include:
The Elephants Child - An energetic multi-role telling of Rudyard Kipling classic story.
The Bunyip - from Australia a story about inner worth and acceptance, self-empowerment and understanding.
How The Rabbit Caught The Sun - A traditional tale of hubris and repercussions from North Americas First Nation Peoples. Heartwarming and compelling.
Jenny Wren - The story of how a wren became ruler of all the birds instead of the eagle because of her wit and intelligence.
Twocan Toucan - An Aesopian story of the worlds creation, when the Toucan finally understood why she was made in the way that she was and how beautiful she would always be.
Tangled Tales and Far-Flung Fables - 1.5 hours (2x 45 mins)

In a similar format to our ‘Storytelling Extravaganza’ this set is also one and a half hours in length and can be broken up in a similar way. ‘Tangled Tales and Far-Flung Fables’ is a storytelling grouping that is perfect for the darker months. This set is made up of spookier stories and tales. These stories although being more complex thematically and narratively are still accessible to a young audience.

Stories include:
Johnny and the Bones - A regional variation on an ancient British fable. This story tells the tale of how a young man traps the spectre of death in order to save the woman he loves.
The Tale of the Selkie - A combined version of stories gathered from both the Shetland isles and also the Faroe islands. Heartbreakingly sad and filled with love.
Johnny and the Four Trees - A second regional variation, thematically similar to Johnny and the Bones but narratively completely different. A tale of revenge leading to Johnny becoming the reaper himself.
Will O’ The Wisp - Focussing on old traditions and ancient ways, this story deals with friendship and bullying in the context of the fens. The story itself is a variation of the Will o’ the Wisp from the north of Wales.
Owuo The Giant of Africa - Set during a famine in Western Africa, this story comprises the machinations and ultimate defeat of a man-eating giant. With a happy ending in the final throws this tale can create a very thought-provoking and insightful dialogue.
StoryDice
In addition to our standardised sets of stories which can be organised in any manner you would like, we also have a high quality set of StoryDice! The picture to the left is a small sample of the story dice available with an additional twelve sided dice also being part of the set.
Our StoryDice allow for a truly unique experience for an audience. We allow a volunteer or volunteers to roll combinations of the dice. This will either result in one of our rehearsed stories being told followed by further stories decided in the same manner or it could result in the creation of a completely improvised story decided on the spot by the roll of additional dice to decide beginning, middle, and end elements. This story (which will usually be of approx. twenty minutes in length) will then be woven on the spot by our storytellers with no break in the process at all. This is always a huge amount of fun for the audience as they try to trip us up and also for us as a company as we work our hardest to create the story as it unfolds in front of us
