Strange-Twigs Pop-Up Theatre is an innovative and adaptable space from which we can perform a variety of short plays and productions in our very own high-energy and bombastic style.

Boasting it's own lighting and sound systems and providing a custom created power supply means that we truly are a fully self-contained and portable small-scale theatre. Our 6m square performance space which can be extended to 9m square for larger spaces comes complete with backstage area and wings and remains to date our most popular outdoor spectacle.

Strange-Twigs Pop-Up Theatre is perfect for outdoor events wanting a static production with a more genuine theatrical feel to that usually available in small scale outdoor theatre.

Strange-Twigs Pop-Up Theatre has hosted several productions to date, all of which are available for hire. When appropriate we will also use the theatre system as a base of operations for our Walkabout productions with the theatre dressed appropriately for your walkabout of choice.

The adventure of a lifetime turns into a disaster for this fisherman! But when a friendly whale shows him the truth of the sea his life is changed in ways that he could never have imagined. The ocean comes to life around him with more beauty than he knew existed and as time passes it changes him for the better.

 

Filled with energy, light and sound, this show for all ages shows a world usually hidden from view below the waves. With plenty of laughs, special effects, movement, live audio and light effects, it’s guaranteed to leave you in awe at the wonder of the sea.

Journey To The Centre Of The Earth

Lucinda McTucket and Stanley ‘Trigger-Happy’ Cavendish are looking for adventure, and it comes in the form of a strange package! A mysterious postal worker sets them off on the quest of a lifetime, with wonders not seen in an age. But is she really all she makes herself out to be, or does she have nefarious intentions. Only time will tell as the adventurers travel through the darkest jungles and into parts unknown with promises of fame and fortune at their fingertips.

With multiple transforming set pieces, puppetry and special effects as well as direction audio systems, this show is nothing if not fast-paced and filled with fun.

 

This new take on Jules Vernes Journey To The Centre of The Earth has it all - Jungles, Mystery and Dinosaurs!

Feeding Time

The rift between the land of humans and the land of the fae folk has been opened. Creatures from fable and story are making their way back into the world but their presence is not to be taken for granted. These creatures need special care and attention as they find their feet in this new and strange place we call home!

To help them along their way the Cryptid Rangers have established an outpost and YOU are the lucky guests invited to meet the inhabitants. Each of the creatures living here interacts in their own way and you'll have the very special chance to play with them all. But when feeding time comes around you'd better watch out because there's sure to be mischief aplenty.

This production can be run not only as a static performance but also as a trail with additional walkabout performers and features animatronics as well as life sized fibreglass sculptures which can be placed at intervals. 

Mystery On Darkening Moor

A hilarious and unflinching take on a classic Hammer Horror style story. With deep overtones of Scooby Doo and based in the world created in Mary Shelley’s classic novel ‘Frankenstein' this show is roll on the floor funny.

 

An investigator has come to Darkening Manor, across Darkening Moor and through the ever darkening Darkening Graveyard. There have been reports of gravediggers in the darkening hours at Darkening Graveyard on the darkening Darkening Moor and the only possible place the gravediggers could come from are the dark arches of the spooky Darkening Manor!

 

There’s a mystery afoot… and a leg and a few arms, and the lady of the house - a seductive femme fatale of course - is the prime suspect for the brains behind the operation.

 

Will the investigator make it out alive? Only time will tell!

Based around the events of H.G. Wells ‘War of the Worldsʼ

The Tripods from Mars came unexpectedly to Woking, but for the Woking Postal Corps the beginning of the apocalypse doesnʼt mean a half-day holiday! Entrusted with one last delivery before their final day of business these postal workers will stop at nothing to complete their duties and get that package to its final destination... Deepest, darkest Peru!

Will the Martians win out, or will humanity prevail? But most important of all... will the post be delivered?

Another madness filled half hour play performed from Strange-Twigs Pop-Up Theatre. Filled with sound, light and intense periods of fun.

Winnie and Warwicks Magical Menagerie

Winnie the witch and Warwick the wizard are spell casters in training and they’re after every opportunity to practice. They’ve been left in charge of the Grand Masters Magical Menagerie to keep them out of trouble and although they’re fairly sure all of the critters are still there they have a sneaking suspicion that something may have escaped. Mind your heads as their spells zip and zing about the skies and keep an ever watchful eye on their spellbook, it holds secrets that even they sometimes aren’t aware of.

Filled With Animatronic creatures, sound and light, this show is also available as a Walkabout production.

A Boy and His Dragon

‘A Boy and His Dragon’ is the heartwarming and affirming tale of a young boy named Peter. With compassion at it's heart, this production teaches the importance of conservation.

Peter - apprentice to a local blacksmith - on meeting a dragon late one night by the riverside, goes on the adventure of a lifetime. With only his sense of compassion as his guide he seeks to set right a mistake that could lead to the destruction of his entire village.

Using puppetry, music and light to engage an audience of all ages, Peter not only saves his village from destruction but also forges an ongoing peace with the dragon that will last for all time. 

 

Fast paced and energetic with a small multi-role cast and self-contained set, ‘A Boy and His Dragon’ is sure to keep an audience on their toes as the mystery unfolds.

Suitable for the street, stage or almost any indoor area and coming complete with full set, costumes, and props that have a life of their own. Let us lead you through the twists and turns of fairy tales from around the globe, both traditional and modern.

Each story is unique for every telling as we aim to weave local landmarks and events into our structures. A storytelling event could last an hour or half an hour, it could even last all day with tellings at intervals along the way. Rest assured that Strange-Twig Theatre Company will always leave you wanting more.
